H.M.S DIDO. 1/96 SCALE Details Considered by many to be one of the most aggressive looking cruiser constructed during WW 11 the Dido class were designed for use as A.A. cruisers in the fleet role. Their active and exciting historys are too complicated to cover in this brief article. Five ships were authorised under the 1936 programme ( Bonaventure, Naiad, Dido, and Euryalus ) two more under the 1937 programme Hermione and Sirius, and then three under the 1938 programme, Cleopatra, Charybdis, and Scylla. Six further ships were added under the 1939 programme, to be called, Royalist, Black Prince, Bellona, and Diadem. The ordering of these ships recognised the growing threat of air power to the fleet. A most interesting group of ships in this class, no two ships were identical, and the weapons fit and camouflage varied throughout the war. The last of the group was not scrapped until 1959. With a top speed of 32 knots this class of ship will make an interesting and exciting model to add to the fleet. Lenght 64" Beam 6"
