M.V. VELARDE
The model is based on a glassfibre hull with fender strips, plating detail, and port detail moulded into the hull. The main superstructure and decks are all LASER CUT from 1 & 1.5mm Hi-Impact Polystyrene sheet (HIPs), printed HIPs are also included, to provide the fine detail and finishing on the superstructure, which aids the quick and crisp assembly.
A full sheet of brass etchings with in excess of 250 parts is included to give the superfine detail for this classic model.
There is a full set of Fittings, cast in light alloy and resin to give the finishing touch to the model, adding the vital clutter that is so much a part of the appeal of this attractive merchant ship.
A full set of waterslide decals for hull and draught markings are included.
As in all of the Deans kits a set of running gear is included, consisting of the propeller, propeller shaft, tiller and rudder. An upgrade set is available, at additional cost, for crew figures, cast brass working propeller and roller bearing propeller shaft.
A comprehensive instruction book, keyed to a FULL SIZE plan with embedded colour pictures, to assist in constructing this model.
Painting instructions are part of the construction notes with tips for using the latest car spray ACRYLIC paint which gives a fast and hard wearing finish.

The Original Ship was constructed for the fruit trade in 1959 this Refrigerated fast Ship or Reefer was owned and operated by MacAndrews & Co ltd of London
Later: 1969 SAILOR PRINCE - 1970 ZENIT - 1973 NADIR - arrived Split 27.4.87 to be broken up
SAILOR PRINCE was built in 1957 by Ottensener A. G. at Hamburg with a tonnage of 2055grt, a length of 334ft 4in, a beam of 45ft 6in plus a service speed of 14 knots. She was completed in May 1957 as the Velarde for MacAndrews & Co. Ltd of London and chartered to Prince Line Ltd. in 1969 when her name was changed to Sailor Prince.
