During 1942 the Admiralty designed a specialist Motor Gun Boat to counteract the heavy weapons fitted to German E boats at the time. MGB 77 was one of the boats.
Three Packard petrol engines of 1300 hp gave 35-40 knots. Weapon fit comprised of one 2pd 2 x 20mm and 4 x 303 machine guns.
The boat has a very aggressive apperance, and the performance if constructed with lightweight materials is outstanding.
Plans are available to order with the hull, drawn by J Pritchard or direct from Nexus. plans service.
The hull is moulded from lightweight glass fibre with all the classic curves of the full size vessel.
